Rain

Standard

The drops of rain fell

From the Heavens down to Earth

Departed from the divine

To the mortal realm

Immortal in the sky

Above the decay and mortality

Above all the pain and death

To be free in the sky forever

But the rain must fall

Spread throughout every inch

To bring life to everything that breathes

Their ascent is not their death

It is their rebirth within everything that lives

Their Heaven is both above and below

Among the living that love and live

Turned the Page Over

Standard

Leaflets fell from the sky, dancing and twirling in the daytime breeze.

She watched as one drifting from above her head to settle at her feet.

It landed writing side down, its message obscured.

To think, this one page had fallen from such a height.

Unscathed passed open windows, shallow puddles, and passing cars.

To survive all that, just to land with the wrong side up.

She nudged the single page with her foot.

To have come so far…

She knelt down and turned the page over.

[It’s Been a While]

Standard

It’s been so long

Such a long time

When I last saw inside

Inside myself it has changed

The things before

No longer the same

The piece of me I treasured most

Seems to have abandoned me

To further reaches

I could never go

Beyond anywhere I think I could look

I think of old times

When I knew who I was

When I knew what I could be

But now the changes are immense

The changes are beyond my control

Things will never be as they were

Not for a long time

Not for a long while

[Poem][Words from Lips]

Standard

A never ending string of words

That flows from one mouth to one ear

Syllables that dance from tongue to lips

That makes us laugh

That makes us cry

That makes us feel alive

They remind us that we are human

That we share something not everything does

Words connect us to each other

And still drives us apart

Years pass and people grow old

But the words we use are all the same

They may change pronunciation

They may develop more meaning

But when words come from our lips

Mountains may be moved

[Poem][Embrace]

Standard

My hands are tied I quiet embrace

Struggling to continue in restraint

Striving past the uphill trudge

To keep the inadequacy fears at bay

The feeling of being more ever growing

The desire to be me ever fading

To walk forward with blinders on

Hands tied behind my back

Somewhere in needing to be more

I left myself somewhere behind

I hope that past self was freedom

For what I walk blindly towards

Is a darker embrace fueled by need

Instead of fueled by me

[Poem][Pages]

Standard

All these pages we read

These novels we devour with our eyes

With our hearts and minds

We open ourselves to words written by others

Word by word they create worlds for us

We inhale deeply

Wanting more, something new

We run with their imagination

We change it with our own

We begin our own worlds with pen and paper

Our own pages begin to pile

Higher and higher our world grows

For others devouring pages and worlds

It’s our works

They begin to devour

[Poem][Leave]

Standard

In the blink of an eye

They can be gone forever

We can see it coming

In all that time

And never be able to stop it

It is what you do

It is what you make of the time you have

The clock is running down

The sun setting on ever day

Time moves on

No matter who you are

Leave the memories good

And the people you love happy

Leave something that can be smiled upon

Leave time in your tracks

Leave on your own terms

Leave in your own damn time
