[Campaign][The Uncanny Sublime: Editing and Literature]

Attaining your dreams is rarely easy, and if it is, you’re not dreaming high enough.

Turning my dream of stepping out of the role of a writer and into a author, is going to take a lot of time, effort, and money.

Time, I am able to find in order to write and edit.

Effort, I am definitely not short on that here!

Money, well… This is where I could use a little team effort.

Over almost the past year of being on WordPress, I have seen some bloggers create campaigns in order to raise a bit of funds for whatever it is they are in need of. I thought, why not, I’ll try the same thing.

You can find the campaign page HERE There are perks for putting money towards the fundraising, such as your name and blog/website being posted on my own blog, reblogs of something you have written, and honourable mentions on any future campaigns I may begin.

The goal of the fundraising is to gain at least $260 in order to purchase the following subscriptions and books that have been recommended to me for writing, editing, and publishing:

1. Writer’s Market Annual Subscription – $45
2. Writer’s Digest 8 Issues – $35
3. Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer by Roy Peter Clark – $15
4. The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E. B. White – $15
5. Keys to Great Writing by Stephen Wilbers – $15
6. Mastering the Craft of Writing: How to Write With Clarity, Emphasis, and Style Paperback by Stephen Wilbers – $20
7. On Writing Well 30th Anniversary Edition: The Classic Guide to Writing Nonfiction by William Zinsser – $20
8. The Elements of Academic Style: Writing for the Humanities by Eric Hayot – $30
9. The Canadian Style by Public Works and Government Services Canada Translation Bureau – $20
10. The Elements of Internet Style: The New Rules of Creating Valuable Content for Today’s Readers Paperback by Editors of Eei Press – $15
11. The Sound On The Page: Great Writers Talk about Style and Voice in Writing Paperback by Ben Yagoda – $15
12. APA / Chicago / MLA for the Modern Student Paperback by H. P. Young – $15

Anything over the fundraising goal, would be put towards self-publishing, teaching materials for my new student editing business, and eventually finding a literary agent.

Money aside, because I know not everyone has cash to spare, even just some kind, supporting words, or harsh criticisms that would help my writing are always, ALWAYS, appreciated.

Silence may be golden, but it does not help a writer needing to edit!
